Fernando Musa holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) and an MBA from Insead in France.
Musa started his career in 1989 at Dow Chemical in its management trainee program. Throughout his career, he has had a variety of roles related to business development and strategic planning.
In 1997, he co-founded the consulting and venture capital firm MGDK, later acquired by the Monitor Group. He became a managing partner at Monitor and led its South American operations.
Musa then joined Quattor as vice president of planning and integration. In 2011, after Braskem's acquisition of the company, he became vice president of business planning and development.
Musa was named Braskem CEO (2016-2019) and consolidated its position as the world's sixth largest producer of thermoplastic resins, delivered a record EBITDA of BRL 12.3 billion in 2017, reinforced its governance and compliance practices in line with the best global references, and embarked on its digital transformation.
Today he serves as a senior advisor and board member for Advent International, Bain & Company, Oxiteno, Abiquim, International Council of Chemical Associations, Alliance to End Plastic Waste, Amcham, American Chemical Council and World Plastics Council.
